Are you hungry to keep developing your skills, are you a creative performer who wants to be involved in every part of the devising process? Would you like to learn how to devise work without having a script or score to lean on?
Are you interested in learning more about physical theatre, honing your sensitivity and awareness as a performer, and combining disciplines? Are you willing to experiment and to fail, to say ‘yes, and…’ rather than ‘yes, but…’ and learn to work without judgement? Are you willing to train, to listen, to stay playful and creative but keep your eye on the ball? Let’s play. |
Every six months we hold two open sessions, which gives you and us a chance to see if there’s a match. This isn’t an audition, just a way for us both to get to know each other’s way of working so that we know what we’re getting ourselves into ;)
For whom?
As a Company, we put a lot of value on training and collaborative practice.
Our training programme is open to professional performers from any discipline (musicians, dancers, actors, performing artists, puppeteers, etc), who are experienced at or interested in learning about devising, physical performance and ensemble work. We also have two places available for talent development. For those places you don’t need to be a professional yet, but you need to be willing to work like one. From all participants we expect that if you partake, you commit fully, turn up on time and throw yourself into the work with as much professionalism as playfulness. |
What does the training consist of?
Weekly training days
10:00 - 14:00 In the mornings we will work on skills, such as
In the afternoons we use the skills we’ve worked with in the morning or choose an object, theme, sentence, image or gesture and use it to devise new material. We then share that material and work on it. Some training days we may choose to take one or several pieces of generated material and work a little more with these. |
Masterclasses
3 weekends of Saturday & Sunday 10:00 - 16:00 Throughout each training season we have three Weekend Masterclasses. During these weekends we invite an expert tutor, often from abroad, to come and work with us intensively on a specific skill. This coming season the tutors we will be working with are

Showing
At the end of the season, two performance days
Throughout the season we collect material and work towards a work-in-progress showing that we share with the audience. This work is often a compilation of work we’ve found, without it necessarily having a narrative already.
The point is to share some of our raw and most inventive work with our audience, and invite them to be part of the devising process by discussing with them afterwards what some of the material could lead to. Often these performances end up serving as research & development for a new performance. |
